Measuring & Estimation ENVIRONMENT: ANY SUBJECTS: Maths, Science, History (timelines)
Overview of activity Things to consider
In any subject that requires a % or scaled answer, you can ask children to go and stand on a physical scale that you have created for/with them. This could be an approximation (e.g. one end of classroom is 100% the other end is 0% - how many children in UK are currently insufficiently active - stand where you think?) or be more precise by using tape/chalk/cones to mark intervals (e.g. every 10% marked). This can also be used when studying chronology in History by creating large timelines that children stand on/move to. You will need tape/chalk/cones/metre stick if you want to make the scale more precise. Better in a large space but could be done with a small group in the classroom.
