Collection stations – “harvest” ENVIRONMENT: ANY SUBJECT: ANY
Overview of activity Things to consider
Children physically collect and gather number cards/words/sentences/pictures/objects from different areas of the learning environment to then use in the next part of their learning. For example:
  • Maths – collect number cards/tags and operation cards to then use in solving problems involving the four operations.
  • English – collect vocabulary/phrases to help with a specific writing task
  • History – collect artefacts/evidence that supports new part of History to be studied
  • Any – collect information (enough in each area for each child/group) that then needs to be sequenced back at their tables.
You will need to set up “Collection stations” – tubs/boxes/suitable display areas in the classroom. You will need pre-prepared resources for each station (enough for each child/group as being physically collected).Better in a large space but could be done with a small group in the classroom.
