Card moves (number cards)
Overview of activity Things to consider
Using a standard deck of cards, teacher makes up a different move with their class for:
i) each suit - e.g. hearts is jump up and down, clubs is swim with your arms. Decide what number Jack, Queen, and King representDecide what number Jack, Queen, and King represent and also the silly move for the Joker cards!
Teacher then sticks a given number of cards randomly face down on the board, and reveals them one at the time. The children then have to perform the given number of repetitions based on the card (e.g. 4 of hearts = jump up and down 4 times). You could convert this to a “play your cards right” style game with the class in two teams, and the team that wins choosing the actions for the next round.
You will need a set of large playing cards
