Arrays ENVIRONMENT: Large Space SUBJECT: Maths
Overview of activity Things to consider
Children demonstrate multiplication arrays up to number in class (e.g. 6 x 4). Children that are not needed to form array can be part of reviewing, moving rows and columns to show different factor pairs (e.g. 8 x3). Can also be used to model simple division and remainders based on class size (e.g. 30/7 = 4 r 2, 30/8 = 3 r 6). You will need a hall or large outdoor space. You could also use cones instead of the children themselves, with each child given a number of cones to make arrays as part of a group.
