Collection stations – Record ENVIRONMENT: ANY SUBJECT: ANY
Overview of activity Things to consider
Children move around different areas of the learning environment with whiteboard/clipboard/notepad recording numbers/words from the different areas that will support them in the next part of the lesson. For example:
  • Maths - different areas of classroom set up with different questions on area of maths studied. Children write these down and then return to desks to complete. They then visit a different area with questions that challenge their understanding in a different way (variation).
  • English - when learning about key parts of a story, children can visit different stations (e.g. detail on characters, settings, problems) and make notes on each one.
  • Science - children visit different stations that have information on different habitats being studied.
  • Any - “treasure hunts”/cross curricular orienteering courses can be used where children have to visit “stations” in a set order to get the next answer/piece of information to support their learning.
You will need “Collection stations” - tubs/boxes/suitable display areas in the classroom. You will need Whiteboards/notepads/Clipboards (enough for each child/group). You will need pre-prepared resources for each station.
